Print Advertising Sales (Napa County)

A regional tourism magazine is seeking independent sales representatives to sell advertising services to businesses interested in reaching visitors to the Northern California Wine Country.

Responsibilities include:

Establishing and maintaining advertiser accounts including wineries, restaurants, retailers, leisure activities providers, tour operators and other elements of the Northern California tourism industry

Providing the publishers with market intelligence gleaned from meetings with prospects and house accounts

Light distribution of the magazine to a small number of distribution points as requested by the publishers to supplement regular distribution services performed by others

Weekly reporting of sales activity and prospect status, and participation in periodic sales team teleconferences and occasional meetings

Minimum qualifications:

Experience in advertising sales, preferably for print media

Good sales instincts backed by solid sales skills

Appreciation of finer wines, fine dining, and other amenities of Northern California

Residency in or within short driving distance of Napa Valley or Sonoma Valley

Basic proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and basic comfort with email programs

The ideal candidates will be comfortable with commission-based compensation. The publishers understand that a commission-based approach to compensation requires a commission structure sufficient to motivate aggressive sales activity. Base compensation tied to management responsibilities for house accounts will be provided to facilitate initial sales efforts.
