About Us:

The Digital Creative Services team at Boston.com and The Boston Globe is an in-house agency -- a fun, collaborative group of eight who work hard at producing great creative and innovative technology solutions for our advertisers. We also design in all media for Boston.com marketing.

The Role:

The Senior Developer takes expert knowledge in programming and web development, and applies it to our creative campaigns and strategic business decisions. As The Boston Globe and Boston.com continue to evolve and adapt during this exciting time of transition in media, you will take a lead role in leveraging technology to innovate new advertising solutions and create revenue opportunities. You will interface with a diverse array of internal and external clients, and collaborate with designers, developers, and account teams. Strong social and communication skills are a necessity to this role.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with Creative team, helps conceive and develop new products in display, web, mobile and tablet environments

Leads process for new product implementation from inception to market

Manages Interactive Developer

Stays current with emerging industry developments, both in online advertising and technology spheres (via conferences, online communities, publications, etc.)

Provides consultation to other business units on feasibility of proposed products

Monitors our current digital advertising product offerings with an eye for continual improvement and optimization

Serves as primary point of contact for issues in ad serving and workflow technologies

Job Requirements and Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Technology, or related field -OR- 5 years as a developer or technologist in an agency setting

Strong front-end programming skills in HTML (HTML5), Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, Flash Actionsript

Familiarity with one or more server-side scripting languages: PHP, ASP, Perl

Good verbal and written communication (presentation) skills

Strong sense of effective user experience design -- visual design skills a plus

Ability to work well in collaborative setting, with strong interpersonal skills
