Two positions available. Excellent opportunity to work with an well-funded computer PC Tablet company in Austin, TX. The category is growing quickly because of the introduction of the latest Apple iPad which has validated the market. This company is a competitor, but for a specialized market. This is NOT an admin position--you will do real marketing and work closely with the well-respected VP of Marketing and a well-known industry consultant (a former VP Marketing at GE, Sr. VP at Motorola, launched Netscape, formed Red Storm Entertainment with Tom Clancy--has launched more high-tech products than anyone in the industry) who will mentor and coach--but needs help with the work.

Don't need to have experience--but it will be an experience of a lifetime! Work remotely out of home (must have PC, MS Office/Open Office and high speed Internet), and occasionally out of the office (north Austin). Company will provide phone, etc. Work on various projects in marketing (PR, Channel Marketing, SEO, Direct Response, Ads, Video, Alliances, etc.). Will help the company move to the next level. Intense but really rewarding chance to do real marketing with real marketing pros who need help to get everything done (part of a new launch and re-launch).

General Description

The marketing Intern will help to a) build the reseller program (no sales--but will support the reseller channel (with Powerpoints, demo scripts, orientation, regional promotionals), b) help setup and manage the alliance program (including the alliance relationships and affiliate program, help with PR, ads, copywriting, events, help build the company database, help with customer and partner follow-up and events. Will be shown and coached on everything that needs to be done.

Duties include:

Partner Program

- Help with the reseller partner recruiting efforts. Build database, send and respond to e-mails, direct response, phone follow-up.

- Follow up with existing resellers with agreements, schedule partner training and question follow-up, help prepare needed materials.

- Setup regional promotions via the partners and help drive success.

- Execute partner program detailed plan of action (step by step strategic plan).

Affiliate Program

- Help define affiliate program (search and replace, setup kit)

- Affiliate recruiting (post with top 50 affiliate boards, create affiliate profile, find applicable affiliates (existing QuickBooks, MYOB and Peachtree affiliates, accounting/bookkeepers, trainers, authors, etc.).

- Enable affiliates (monthly update letter, schedule product training, Q&A, etc.).

- Online ombudsman activities (identify top 25 forums, post questions and responses, monitor for initial and ongoing viral marketing)

Alliance Program

- Re-purpose alliance kit

- Identify top prospects

- Create business case/prospect type

- Compile contact information and setup alliance meetings

- Follow-up with alliance partners to execute respective plan of actions

SEO

- Learn the 58 steps to SEO and execute to maximize online traffice

- Help with social media exposure

PR

- Help create editorial calendar and follow up with press, create and send reviewer's guides

- Help write and publish press releases, set press appointments

- Online ombudsman, blogging

Advertising & Direct Response

- Help write persuasive copy

- Help with design concepts and execution

- Setup response tracking

Events

- Help with trade show planning, booth design, create demo scripts, help demo product

Reporting:

- Prepare a weekly status report for the weekly meetings. This report would consist of an update from the company master checklist with dates, the status and follow-up results from each category.

Qualifications:

No experience required--incredible opportunity to learn and do real marketing. Candidate should be capable of initiating and maintaining strong personal relationships. In addition, he/she should be able to coordinate with all the departments involved to ensure the completion of the associated marketing programs. A high degree of organization and self-motivation is required. This person must quickly learn the product and the market (paid to learn) so they can contribute. Intense exerience, but incredible experience.

Prefer a responsible Junior-Senior in college working on a business degree (marketing preferred since this will be applicable experience). Need to know Office applications and have a technical aptitude since it is within the high-tech industry.

This is not the typical internship or assistant role, you will be doing real marketing work. We will expect you to take initiative and make a noticable contribution to help the company move to the next level.

Will have a local coach and mentor, and will also be able to network with other interns to learn everything needed to be successful.

Must know Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel and Word), have internet connection (high-speed preferred) and own PC (allows you to work on most projects remotely if preferred).

40 hours/week during summer, part-time if able to continue through school year. Could convert to full-time employee after graduation, etc. if can contribute to the company.

Pay

- $8.00/hour plus monthly bonus that try to double your pay, based on growth and deliverables (to be defined within first two weeks).
