Examiner.com, one of the nation's leading media networks, is looking for rockstar intern to join our fast-paced editorial team--expanding our social media footprint while working with contributors from all 50 states to monitor and surface high-quality content.

This is an exciting opportunity to expand your editorial skills, polish your portfolio and gain invaluable experience working with one of the largest information sites in the country.

What you'll learn:

How to operate within an editorial environment serving 18 million monthly readers and 248 cities.

How to implement, execute and monitor social media strategy across a variety of networks.

The importance of online analytics and tracking, and how to effectively gather, communicate and present.

How to create and deploy editorial initiatives on a massive scale.

That people in a corporate environment can still get a lot done while wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

What you'll do:

Work across a variety of social networks ranging from Twitter and Facebook to Tumblr and Storify--posting, moderating, testing and responding to followers and fans.

Compose and publish articles about timely and evergreen topics.

Monitor pages on Examiner.com ensuring they are timely and free from errors.

Identify exceptional articles, slideshows, and images to feature in other areas on the site.

Assist in building out regional editorial calendars and perform thorough fact-checks of the information.

Gather daily, weekly and monthly stats from projects and initiatives and present to management.

Assist various teams with side projects involving editorial initiatives or daily tasks.

What you won't do:

Be asked to get us coffee. Ever. (But if you offer, that's a different story)

What you'll need:

Experience writing for the web with AP Style, and a familiarity with online publishing tools, resizing photos, etc. Basic knowledge of HTML makes us like you even more, but is not required.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Good grasp of current happenings, national events and resources for finding this info.

Finger on the pulse of social media and trending topics.

A sense a humor and a desire to be part of one of the most exciting web properties around.
