The American Program Bureau, Inc. (APB Speakers) is one of the world's leading speakers bureaus, headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts. APB's roster includes key business and world leaders, media and entertainment personalities, and academic, sports and diversity speakers.

We are seeking sales and marketing interns for the Spring 2012 semester, with the option to extend into summer. Credit and non-credit opportunities available. 15-20 hours/week required.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: SALES

Our agents work closely with industry-leading corporations, associations, and organizations to provide them with content driven keynote presenters and speakers which will entertain as well as inform.

In this position, you will work directly with the corporate agents to assist them with talent research, weekly meetings, day-to-day operations, and client relations. As a result of the nature of the public speaking industry, APB interns have to opportunity to learn from some of the most respected names across a wide range of industries from entertainment to business.

Duties will include:

Attending calls/meetings with speakers

Reviewing and assessing potential talent

Researching and gathering materials on speakers

Assisting agents with projects/data entry

Identifying potential clients and assisting with communications

Some cold calling

Requirements include:

Strong writing and editing skills

Must be able to multi-task

Strong MS Word and Excel skills

Pop-culture/current event savvy

Detail oriented

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: MARKETING

The marketing team at APB Speakers is looking for a few bright, self-motivated, and flexible interns to join our team. If you know politics, pop culture, and entertainment and are tuned into the most important issues of today, we want you!

We are looking for interns in the following areas:

Writing & Editing: Our copywriting, copyediting, and proofreading intern will assist the chief copywriter in maintaining the written materials about our speakers. Duties may include attending speaker meetings, updating speaker bios, crafting speech topic descriptions, drafting news stories about our speakers, writing content-rich blog posts, and proofreading catalog copy for errors and consistency. You should be a strong writer with a very keen eye for detail.

Social Media: Our social media intern will help both with daily maintenance updates on our social media sites (which include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), as well as helping with longer-term social media initiatives. We are looking for a creative go-getter as this internship will offer the opportunity to brainstorm and implement your own creative social media campaigns.

Video Filming & Editing: In this position you will work with the marketing department to create promotional videos (both from stock footage and from footage taken in our office). The video intern will also be responsible for working to create promotional vignettes and company branding pieces to be used at trade shows and on the web. Editing and filming experience is a must!

General Marketing: The general marketing intern will assist both the chief copywriter and the marketing coordinator in their everyday tasks, which may include adding new speakers to our website, drafting news stories about our speakers, brainstorming marketing campaigns and initiatives, attending meetings with speakers, maintaining and administering our social media sites, and manipulating photos for the website. This internship offers a broader, more general view of how our marketing department works.

Information Processing: As an information processing intern you will work directly with our marketing coordinator to collect, compile, organize, standardize, and save various sources and forms of data. You will provide valuable support to higher level reporting functions including sales reports, lead generation reports, and marketing campaign effectiveness reports, amongst others. Google Analytics and AdWords experience a plus!
