The UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education (CEE) delivers world class executive education and custom solutions to businesses around the globe. It draws on the rich resources, talent and perspectives of top-level business educators and researchers from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and elsewhere.
The Business Development Consultant position involves activities associated with reaching, serving, and engaging external constituencies through programs, events, products, and services not primarily related to fundraising. Constituencies include alumni, corporations, non-profit organizations, government, as well as the general public. Translates constituent needs and priorities into open enrollment program offerings to create, enhance, and sustain relationships between the campus and its external constituencies.
CEE is a revenue generating unit within the Haas School of Business. Responsibilities include direct sales efforts for open enrollment programs and services.
Responsibilities:
Works with the Business Development Team to develop and implement programs, events and/or communication strategies designed to inform external constituencies of open enrollment programs, activities, policies, and practices; constituencies may include the general public, corporations, non-profit organizations, and government.
May research various topics and gather relevant data to inform unit strategic plans, keeping management informed as necessary and providing input as required. For examples, weekly sales and tracking report and report on market trends to internal stakeholders.
Ensures smooth-running operations for open enrollment programs, from Accounting to Program Management. Trouble-shoots and resolves open enrollment participants issues.
Responds to constituent inquiries
Handles inquiries and develops prospective clients so that clients and their companies become a participant(s) in CEE programs and services.
Responsible for direct sales efforts for open enrollment programs.Actively seeks and cultivates new relationships/sales with corporate functional leaders to attract group attendance to Haas Open Enrollment Executive Education programs
For staff in Government/Community Relations: monitors and interprets federal and state legislation and/or proposed actions by city government.
For staff in Government/Community Relations: keeps senior administration informed of potential campus impact of proposed government/community actions.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with internal and external constituencies.
Thorough knowledge of the campus, its mission, goals, objectives, programs, achievements, infrastructure and issues of concern.
Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus.
Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identify real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.
Strong sales skills and knowledge of business and CEE program offerings.
Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines.
For staff in Government/Community Relations: thorough knowledge of public policy.
For staff in Government/Community Relations: thorough knowledge and understanding of the legislative process and how these activities can/will impact the campus and strong skills in reading and interpreting proposed legislation.
For staff in Government/Community Relations: written skills to produce effective position statements and draft proposed legislation.Salary: The salary for this exempt, six month, full-time, contract position will range between $3,850 per month up to $5,725 per month.
