The CMDB Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization via tools and processes that drive change management, version control, build management, and release management. The CMDB Analyst provides administration and technical support to CMDB and related processes including the analysis of proposed changes of database design and configuration to determine effect on the overall CMDB system. Coordinates and ensures all CMDB requirements are in liaison with efforts and decisions by the Governance and Boards requisites.

The strategic roles requires building consensus on the CMDB and middleware architecture, working with Technology Services, Operations and Project Startup, Database Administration and Development balancing SLAs, technical needs, operational needs, development needs and costs.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical and professional resource, who is ITIL certified, and has extensive support experience, has implemented multiple IT systems, including some or all of the systems supporting ITIL based services, particularly CMDBs.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Presentation of CMDB to the Architecture Review team. Implementation of the CMDB and associated middleware applications. Plan, implement, and document configuration management database procedures across multiple teams and projects, following ITIL methodology.
Participate in establishing SLAs/OLAs with application line of business owners and other IT staff
Actively participate in continuous improvement and maintenances of processes, documentation, data, configuration management, operations, system definitions, and policies in a regulated environment
Operational middleware layer including CMDB, monitoring, content switches, proxy servers, web servers, application servers, messaging servers, LDAP (as it pertains to applications), and report servers ensuring availability and performance in accordance with SLAs
Troubleshoot problems in the middle tier working first to restore service and then working to implement changes to prevent future occurrences
Incorporate monitoring to provide appropriate notification in the event of a problem
Collect statistical information on traffic and traffic patterns to inform strategic planning
Work with Technology Services, Operations and Project Startup, Database Administration and Development to plan improvements to the middle tier, respond to development (application) needs and react to underlying technical changes
Monitor patterns in traffic recognizing potential problems or bottlenecks that may threaten fulfillment of SLAs
Participate in both the planning and implementation of new or significantly changed applications that have an impact on application traffic
Participate in the planning and testing of the IT disaster recovery plan
Understands the role of IT in the overall corporate strategy and planning, and set objectives that are aligned with this role
Demonstrates a willingness to accept new or additional responsibility
Act as a technical consultant on middleware issue to the rest of IT
Seeks and take advantage of opportunities to expand knowledge of operations beyond normal requirements or expectations
Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve communications at all levels and in all directions
Displays an excellent ability to facilitate cross-functional communication, including ability to identify and resolve conflict
Solicits feedback, evaluates and monitors client or customer satisfaction to improve the quality of services
Understands system validation and documentation in a regulatory environment (21 CFR Part 11)

Education and Training
Requires a Bachelor's in Computer Science, mathematics or a computer-related field
At least 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience and Skills
Configuration Management, Change Management, Incident Management, Service Management, Release Management.
Very strong problem solving skills
Very good at building consensus
Can see the larger vision of delivery of application functionality and the impact on clinical research and clinical care
Proven leadership experience and project management skills
Strong understanding of SDLC processes
Strong understanding of ITIL or comparable framework
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
Understanding of system architecture design
Solid knowledge of web architecture, application development, and security procedures.
Expertise in web application servers and services.
Working knowledge of local traffic management and load balancing.
Working knowledge of messaging systems.
Strong ability to work in Windows and Linux environments.

This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with one of our clients in Durham, NC. Contract rate in the $43 - 46.50/hr. range; up to $80,000 upon conversion. No sponsorship or 3rd-party arrangements available.
