Winkel & Balktick www.wandbevents.com is seeking an intern to assist with communications, research and event management tasks.

Time commitment is approximately 40 hours per month and compensation is $10.00 per hour. This is a good entry-level position for learning the ropes in event production, arts administration and entertainment PR. This internship has the opportunity to develop into a permanent job with higher wages.

We produce, promote and direct arts and entertainment events in New York City and beyond. Our oevre includes a variety of creative events, ranging from loft and warehouse parties to conferences to outdoor festivals to theatrical happenings.

In addition to our own productions, we offer our services as creative directors and production managers to select corporate clients. We also operate a sound rental company and small event space.

Requirements

In order to qualify, you must:

Presently live inside the Five Boroughs and be eligible for W9 part-time employment. Foreign students with visas who are not seeking compensation are also acceptable.

Be engaged in some kind of creative passion or community-- visual arts, crafting, performance, music, theater. A non-profit background is also acceptable.

Be able to support yourself with other part-time work, student loans or other financial support.

Be available for at least four months, and longer if it works out.

Love technology. Be familiar with Wordpress, Photoshop/Illustrator, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Facebook, Twitter and tons of Google Doc spreadsheets, or willing to rapidly learn these in your own time.

Have professional written and spoken language skills.

Tasks

Assist in coordination and planning of event productions.

Provide organization and hospitality assistance during events.

Updating and editing our websites using Wordpress.

Simple graphic design and photo editing. You don't have to be a bona fide designer, but will need to make simple modifications to existing materials.

Editing newsletters and formatting them for Mailchimp.

Sales and coordination for sound and venue rental.

Track inventory of production equipment.

Keep Facebook and Twitter up-to-date.

Research venues, production vendors, material suppliers, etc.

Scout art, music, performance and other talent and happenings.
