Job Description:
-Conduct sales calls and prospect clients to drive revenue for the department and company.
-Develop creative solutions for client event requests as assigned; ensure that designs meet property and client expectations, are within budget and deadlines are met.
-Complete all required paperwork in detail: proposals, cost sheets, contracts, worksheets, change forms, floral demonstrations, load lists, tear down notes, etc.
-Attend client site inspections, pre-cons and participate in FAM trips and meetings as needed
-Be prepared for and provide input in internal and client planning meetings.
-Foster and expand relationships with property Catering, AV, Convention Sales and Services departments.
-Review outgoing event bays, pull-lists, worksheets and tear down notes to ensure that Crew Leads understand the scope of the event.
-Assist with event installations as needed. Participate in critique and final walkthrough with client.
-Communicate project status, timelines and delivery information to clients and internal teams.
-Cultivate a creative and collaborative environment to inspire design and build cohesive teams within the department, division and properties
-Interface with internal departments, clients and properties to resolve issues.
-Promote best practices: provide ideas to improve sales strategies and operations.
-Mentor, coach and train employees on event design and sales techniques.
-Stay current with trends and styles and in knowledge of hotels/venues and ballroom specs.
-Be well versed on the Event Image site (AIM) and fluent in MRE inventory.
-Be active as an MGM Resorts Events ambassador for the company and within our industry.
-Perform job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required:
-At least 7 years experience in the special event industry and/or a bachelor degree in a related field or CSEP certification, emphasis in event planning, managing and coordinating special events from concept to completion
-Experience with large groups, DMCs or Incentive Sales.
-Advanced knowledge of room decor including stage, vignettes, lounges, wall, entry and ceiling treatments, design, conceptualization, art and color
-Advanced skill in coordinating elements including floral, linens and table decor.
-Advanced knowledge of event production including entertainment
-Advanced understanding of prop production, spatial limitations, scale, proportion.
-Advanced experience in sales and pricing events within budget.
-Must have exceptional communication and customer relations skills.
-Creative writing skills needed to develop proposals to visualize events and generate new sales.
-Must be detail oriented and organized. Able to manage multiple event decor installations under tight deadlines while interacting with various departments.
-Excellent customer services skills.
-Ability to lead and mentor a team.
-Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
-Professional appearance and demeanor.
-Must be able work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.
-Working knowledge of Daylight software or similar data management systems and Meeting Matrix software .
-Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms.
Preferred:
-Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
