Position:
At Convergence, you will operate within a vibrant team-based environment, working to manage the organization's bookkeeping, benefits and HR administration, and assisting staff with financial planning and other work, as requested. As Finance and Administration Coordinator, you will, for instance: work with the Director of Operations and other Convergence staff to oversee financial controls; draft organizational and project-level budgeting documents; prepare year-end financial statements and coordinate with external auditors for financial statement review; and, manage the company's human resources and employee benefit programs.
Responsibilities will include:
Day-to-day management of the organization's finances, cash flow, and bookkeeping of transactions in QuickBooks Premier Non-Profit edition.
Preparation of quarterly financial updates, year-end financial statements, and IRS 990 tax submissions.
Work with independent accounting firm to complete annual review of financial statements.
Manage payment of vendor invoices and staff payroll.
Work with project staff and other administrative personnel to forecast expenses and develop budgets.
Administer various employee benefits programs, including health insurance and transit benefits, and research and implement potential additional benefits, such as a 403(b) retirement savings plan.
Act as primary liaison with the Board of Trustees and Leadership Council on financial matters.
Participate in weekly staff planning meetings.
As the staff with greatest responsibility for accounting, you will be asked to contribute to budgeting discussions and comment on a variety of issues from a "financial perspective."
The job will stay interesting, as you will be asked to contribute on a variety of non-financial tasks ranging from organizational development to event planning to executive assistance.
Requirements:
BA degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
1 - 3 years experience in Non-Profit Finance or 3 -- 5 years in Corporate or Public Accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit finance principles, and regulatory requirements affecting charities from federal, state, and local governments.
Superior analytic skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to present oneself professionally, persuasively and intelligently
Excellent organization and multitasking skills, know how to prioritize
Comfortable operating in unstructured work environments and with significant autonomy
Able to communicate well and work flexibly and empathetically with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Preferred:
Familiarity with QuickBooks Premier Non-Profit Edition
Interest or experience in public policy, conflict resolution, mediation, or diplomacy
