Marketing and Public Relations Assistant

EMARC - providing services to individuals with disabilities, is seeking a Marketing and Public Relations Assistant to oversee and assist in a wide range of public relation activities and marketing opportunities for the Development Department and EMARC as an agency. This includes writing press releases, maintaining and updating contact database, creating media lists & contacts, seizing all marketing opportunities.

Candidate must be responsible for creating marketing materials (for both external communications such as social media and traditional media outlets), assisting with EMARC events, community meetings, exhibitions, etc. Handling daily media inquiries and requests via email and phone. Effectively representing EMARC's mission and services to potential sponsors, clients, donors, volunteers, staff and legislators. This position works closely with the Executive Director and Director of Development and Marketing. Assistant will act as a central point person of contact for EMARC. Promoting EMARC and public speaking will be required. Perform other duties and assistant with special projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

A) Develop marketing strategies within EMARC and surrounding communities.

B) Create external communications for agency.

C) Updating EMARC's website and social media pages frequently.

D) Writing and editing all promotional and ancillary materials, including press releases.

E) Assist with event planning, organization and execution.

F) Assist with research, writing and submission of grants.

G) Use computer software to execute designs.

H) Promoting various departments within EMARC and throughout communities.

I) Attend meetings and creating contacts within and around communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English or related discipline and two years directly related experience. Non-profit experience encouraged.

Demonstrated proficiency in:

A) Writing and editing written communications (press releases and ancillary materials)

B) Public relations practices and procedures.

C) Excellent organizational skills.

D) Media management and production.

E) Supporting fundraising events.

F) Working with multiple teams and managing multiple priorities.

G) Positively interacting with the individuals and community groups while promoting the organization's mission.

H) Social media software, Microsoft products and other software used to create marketing materials, media presentations, Photoshop type projects, etc.

I) Excellent networking and presentation skills.
