The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is a individual membership professional organization representing

more than 80,000 member physical therapists (PTs), physical therapist assistants (PTAs), and students of physical therapy.

APTA seeks to improve the health and quality of life of individuals in society by advancing physical therapist practice,

education, and research, and by increasing the awareness and understanding of physical therapy's role in the nation's health

care system.

Assists the planning and execution of the Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), Annual Conference (AC) and other APTA meetings.

Assists in the planning and execution of CSM and AC including space assignments, data entry, special event planning and post-meeting activities

Travels to AC and CSM to assist with on site management

Researches sites, manages contract negotiations, advance and on-site logistical management and post conference activities for assigned regional meetings and workshops.

Collaborates with Professional Development staff on the submission of abstracts and proposals for CSM.

Responsible for contract negotiations, logistical management and post conference activities for all assigned local meetings.

Collaborates with staff from Association Contract Management Services to provide services and support for APTA contracted meetings

All other duties as required by management related to the orderly, efficient and safe operation of APTA.

QUALIFICATIONS

Three years experience in meeting and exhibits management environment

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in meeting planning/convention management

Proven ability in successful contract negotiation

Knowledgeable and experienced with appropriate computer applications, to include MS Word, Excel, Access, and iMIS.

Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Creative and innovative planner with ability to effectively problem-solve anticipated and immediate challenges and to prioritize and to work on a variety of projects simultaneously.

Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to exercise discretionary judgment

Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Member service orientation essential.

Proven experience with implementing and working within established budgets.

Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred.
