Straits Restaurant Group, a growing collection of upscale Asian restaurants and lounges, was founded in 1987 by noted chef and restaurateur Chris Yeo. Straits Restaurant Group operates five multi concept locations in the Bay Area and Texas, with plans to double our presence in the next five years. Our Straits Restaurant concept features the multi-ethnic cuisine of Singapore, while our Sino Restaurant concept focuses on a contemporary version of Chinese cuisine. Both concepts include lively bars with an upscale lounge feel.

We seek positive, bright, energetic, highly motivated, dependable, and passionate candidates who are knowledgeable about hospitality, providing excellent guest services and who have a proven work ethic.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have at least 3 years experience in Catering/Banquet/Event planning. Also must have knowledge of applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations. A good understanding of Asian cuisine, wok style cooking, wines and wine pairings is required. Fine dining experience is highly preferred. Candidates must also have experience using Microsoft Outlook. Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette is also required. Must have good organization and communication skills, in addition to being detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and take initiative. Candidates also must work well independently, yet take direction and be a team player. The ideal candidate will have a pre-existing rolodex of Corporate and private contacts in the Bay Area.
This position may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, early morning and late evenings, to reflect business and banquet needs.

The Banquet/Sales Coordinator will be supporting both restaurants at Santana Row and will be responsible for the following:

- Be the first point of contact for inquires and manage the entire planning process through execution

- Schedule and lead all banquet staff to deliver quality service

- Ensure the set up of banquet areas which may include the placement of tables, silver, plateware and glassware meet event order specifications

- Be aggressively involved in the community to increase sales and promote restaurants

- Communicate scheduled banquets & events with the kitchen, service and host to ensure timely execution of events.

- Generate timely banquet event orders (BEO) within financial parameters

- Set up and develop group sales building programs and initiatives

- Generates new and repeat Corporate and private events

- Maintain an organized and effective Rolodex of existing and potential group clientele

- Proper breakdown and storage of equipment

- Ensure that Sales building activities and materials are compelling and professional
