Hearthstone at Murrayhill is a premier senior community in Beaverton, OR. We desire to serve our residents with love, respect and integrity. We serve independent, assisted living and memory care residents and are looking for a full-time, experienced, like-minded Wellness Activity Assistant who is familiar with dementia care and has a heart to serve seniors. Position: Friday and Saturday 8:00 to 4:00 PM.
Some Activities Experience working with the elderly needed
Summary of Responsibilities:
To assist in implementing and coordinating a Wellness Program for residents with cognitive impairment. This program will meet the resident's needs for physical, cognitive, sensory, social and spiritual stimulation; including gross motor activities, self-care activities, social activities, sensory enhancement activities, and outdoor activities
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in planning a calendar of activities that include exercise, art, music, sensory stimulation, and cognitive stimulation. This includes creating a paper calendar of events that can be distributed by the 20th of the current month for the upcoming month.
2. Assist in event planning, including decorating for holidays and special occasions.
3. Lead group and individual activities on a daily basis. Must be able to multitask, recognize and respond to resident needs.
4. Maintain records in an Activity Log of resident participation and report to ALF administrator before resident's Care Conference.
5. Participate in Care Conference process, as requested.
6. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with: residents' families, staff, management and other departments.
7. Maintain positive attitude and a desire to make a difference in our resident's lives.
8. Demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of dementia and aging process.
9. Must be self-motivated, show initiative and be able to think independently.
10. Have the ability to recognize that everything is an activity.
11. Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities.
12. Reports to Health Service Director.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or GED.
2. Age 18 or greater.
3. Sufficient command of English language to communicate with elders and family members; read and follow written directions, and document care.
4. Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft; Word, Excel, and Publisher. Knowledge and familiarity with email.
5. Must have work experience with persons afflicted with memory impairment.
6. Must have experience working in a team setting.
7. Must have previous work experience or education in a Memory Care Environment.
Physical Job Requirements:

1. Ability to stand /walk up to eight hours per day
2. Must be able to lift/push/carry and pull up to 50 pounds.
3. Must be able to bend, twist, crouch, kneel, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder, and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods.
4. Must be able to talk, hear and see. Vision ability required which includes close vision, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus or use prosthetics that are adequate that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
5. Use of arms, wrists and hands for sustained periods as well as the ability to grasp and squeeze.
6. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the physical, mental, and emotional stress of the position.
7. Must respond appropriately to exposure of body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents.
8. Exposed to chemicals and cleaning solutions.
