I own 3 small businesses: a Clothing Line, Patternmaking/Contracting (Full Package) business & Online Retail Store and am currently looking for an all around part-time assistant/ entry level patternmaker with definite potential for growth into a Full Time Position for the right person. The right person is someone with a hunger to learn, an open mind and a productive, solution oriented attitude. Please do not submit your resume if you cannot take direction smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity with flexible hours for an entry level person in the fashion industry and you will be able to get a real Patternmaker position after working here if you stay with us at least one year.

This position is for a Design/Patternmaking Student or Graduate who lives in the Los Angeles Area has some Patternmaking experience. Some Grading education is necessary as well. Proficiency in Illustrator/ Photoshop is necessary. Microsoft Word/Excel knowledge and Admin Experience plus Verbal/Written Communication skills is important. They will also need to have their own vehicle. Fluency in Spanish would be a huge plus.

We do Patterns & Grading on TUKATECH software and you would be formally trained to use it for use at my company.

I need help with patterns and all aspects of running my businesses including:

Event Coordination for Store Promotions

Filling out/Submitting Tech Packs for Samples and Production

Some Computerized Sketches (Flats)/Fashion Boards

Some Photo Retouching

Office work such as handling emails, data entry, returning phone calls and running errands

Fashion/Makeup Article Writing and Email/Internet Marketing

Samples & Production Management

The position will start out at $10/hr as an independent contractor and in three months turn into $12/hour, part-time employee if you are the right person. I am willing to train as long as you have a Design/Garment Construction related Degree.

Initially I will need the assistant to work 4-6 hrs/day, about three-five days a week (from approximately 10am-4pm and/or evenings from 2-7pm). You would mostly work at my Downtown Office and factory and sometimes at my Condo in Culver City which is about 25 minutes away from downtown. Schedules are both flexible (meaning I can work around your schedule) and subject to change (meaning some weeks you may just be on call). You would get more hours as time goes on, particularly if you are good at patternmaking.
