Administrative Assistant for Buddhist Monastery
Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism, founded in 1974, is located in the Greenwood neighborhood in Seattle. We are seeking an experienced receptionist and office assistant with excellent people skills for 20 hours/week, Mondays - Fridays, from 8 am to 12 pm. Responsibilities include:
Assist Head Lama and Co-Executive Directors
Provide friendly reception; greet/announce visitors and answer phones
Maintain the membership and mailing list database
Respond to general email and mail inquiries, forward messages to appropriate parties, and ensure that emails, letters, and phone calls receive timely responses
Provide general office assistance--copying and filing, data entry, etc.
Schedule group tours, appointments, meetings
Creating flyers, posters, and other promotional materials
Maintain a dynamic and professional social media presence
Miscellaneous projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior administrative, reception, and clerical experience
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks
Experience working with databases in Access
Experience in graphic design or creating promotional materials
Ability to professionally use social media sites Face Book and Twitter
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Accurately type at least 40 -- 50+ wpm
Ability to work well with staff and volunteers
Cultural sensitivity; previous work experience with diverse communities preferred
Office Environment:
Sakya Monastery is a caring, spiritual work place. The office can be fast paced, loud, hectic at times, with frequent interruptions. An ideal candidate should be flexible and able to respond quickly to change.
In this position, you will be around Tibetan Buddhist Lamas, monks, Tibetan dignitaries, and visitors from all over the world. You will be part of a Tibetan Buddhist lineage and family that has a history of over 1,000 years!
$15 - $18/hourly, depending on qualifications. Please note that as a non-profit organization, health benefits are not available.
