Overview
The Email Marketing Specialist works across all areas of Marketing with a heavy emphasis on end-to-end email campaign management (including conception, creative, production, deployment and tracking). Working within a four-person Marketing Services Team, the Email Marketing Specialist ensures that all email and onsite marketing initiatives are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with business goals and established metrics.
The Email Marketing Specialist also works within the broader Marketing team to positively affect customer conversion, satisfaction and retention. The ultimate goal is to create a compelling, relevant, and consistent customer experience that carries through the customer lifecycle.
Strategic Responsibilities
This position's duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Email Production and Campaign Management
Creative & Design
Produce email content using Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS using industry best practices
Develop messaging and create and modify content based on business owner guidelines
Design graphic images using Adobe Creative Suite (CS5) applications
Assign and manage projects using outside design and editorial contractors
Implement and QA final coded HTML files and designs from outside contractors
Campaign Management
Upload, integrate and troubleshoot content issues within our Email Service Provider's Platform (Acxiom Digital)
QA content implementation, display and link function across multiple email clients and browsers
Manage data provisioning, extended data partners and creation of targetable segments
Write effective email subject lines
Metrics and Analysis
Query prior campaign results, such as open rates, click through rates, revenue and conversion.
Partner with the Marketing Analyst to interpret performance results with the goal of improving future campaign performance
Web Propagation and Sprint Production
Produce and modify marketing content and onsite ads for multiple Web sites using Web-content management system and other Web applications
Coordinate propagations and builds with QA department and content syncs with Engineering
Manage quality assurance (QA) of content updates
Ensure that Web production deliverables are completed according to scheduled content propagations and Web site build dates.
Generate and report on performance metrics of ads and pages as needed
Project Management:
Work with Business Owners to identify business needs and support them via targeted email and onsite marketing efforts
Initiate project brainstorming & planning sessions. Manage stakeholder expectations and buy-in.
Track program interdependencies, milestones and deliverables to ensure successful project implementation/deployment
Work with Content Manager to coordinate email launch dates which support the overall Marketing Calendar and business objectives.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required
3+ years as an email and/or web content producer, preferably in an e-commerce environment
Understanding of email usability, effective design and best practices
Experience working with a major ESP's toolset, such as Acxiom Digital or Exact Target
Proven ability to design and produce effective email marketing messages using HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, etc.
Ability to embrace and learn new technologies and systems
Strong interpersonal, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience using an enterprise-level content management system
Strength in marketing analytics and metrics
Ability to manage and manipulate data using Microsoft Access, Excel and SQL
Experience with customer segmentation, A/B testing and lifecycle marketing
Solid writing, editing and proofreading skills
