The Teaching Company has an immediate opening for a Temporary/Contract Graphic Artist. Candidates must be available to work onsite in our Chantilly, VA office for the duration of the project. This project will last approximately 9 weeks.

The Temporary/Contract Graphic Artist is responsible for creating motion graphics, graphic introductions, animations, detailed charts, diagrams, historic and modern maps, as well as image and art manipulation, restoration, touch up and color correction for The Great Courses.

Responsibilities include:

Translating verbal ideas into high quality, creative visual representations that capture both the information and the emotion of a project

Staying on schedule

Creating multiple graphic elements for courses

Working with Producer to create course look and feel

Motion graphics

Graphic introductions

Animations

Creative visual representations of complex ideas

Technical diagrams

Creating or manipulating stylized maps

Image restoration and touch up

The ideal candidate for the Temporary/Contract Graphic Artist position at The Teaching Company will have:

BA or MFA in Graphic Design or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of hands-on-experience.

Advanced Photoshop, editing experience

Experience with Maya3D

Experience with Motion and/or Aftereffects is required

Experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus

Experience with Final Cut Pro is a plus

Understanding of design and visual flow

Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment

Excellent attention to detail

Proven ability to work within a set schedule and time constraints without sacrificing creativity and quality of final product

Experience in HD television/video is required
