Seeking a full time, in-house graphic designer experienced in both print and web design for a small chain of art supply stores based in Silver Spring, MD. The candidate must be able to use a variety of graphics and pre-press computer programs, have the ability to write code for web pages, have an understanding of web design as it relates to e-commerce, and have the ability to create beautiful and compelling print sales collateral.
Qualifications:
At least 4 years of graphic design experience, with an emphasis on both print collateral and digital design for websites and email. The ideal person for this job is proficient in all aspects of graphic design.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CS5 for PC, Dreamweaver, Acrobat Pro, XML, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and others.
Ability to take direction as well as work creatively, independently, or collaboratively with the Data and Marketing managers to develop both brick and mortar and web marketing, branding, and sales efforts.
Strong working knowledge of current and emerging web coding trends and standards.
Excellent graphic design skills and strong understanding of composition, color schemes, and typography.
Experienced in producing print collateral including, but not limited to, sale flyers, postcards, store signage, and package design.
Experienced in producing web collateral including, but not limited to, emails, web pages, web banners, etc.
Possesses excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Web development experience with a heavy focus on front-end design, usability and e-commerce architecture.
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and or Web Design preferred.
Responsibilities:
Designing a variety of materials including: full site designs, individual page design and improvements, creating and optimizing graphics, digital asset gathering and organization, design quality assurance, research and analysis, creating print collateral, email blasts, and other web and print materials.
Furthering the development and usage of brand style guides, standards and templates to create designs that adhere to and promote the brand identity.
Working with data and marketing managers in a tight collaboration to develop both brick and mortar and web marketing efforts.
Keeping abreast of design, internet marketing, and e-commerce trends.
Becoming intimately familiar with our product lines and customer profiles.
Finding, managing and editing photos for use in both print and web.
Maintaining internal documentation for web page template designs, e-mail campaign configurations, and quality assurance checklists.
