We are assisting one of our charitable partners, a well-regarded non-profit organization headquartered in Waltham, MA, to find an experienced Marketing Communications and Events Manager.
Position Description:
The Marketing Communications and Events Manager is responsible for maintaining visibility of the organization's brand through all communications. He/she will develop and implement strategic marketing campaigns to ensure a consistent and cohesive message, while effectively managing budgets and timelines. This individual will also develop and execute marketing plans and initiatives that specifically address the needs of the organization's supporters, constituents and partners.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity, initiative, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, social media expertise, and strong graphic design experience. The Marketing Communications and Events Manager will also manage the annual events, which are significant fundraisers for the organization. This position will have a dual reporting relationship to both the President and the Director of Special Events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing Communications (80%)
- Responsible for brand recognition and leading all marketing programs
- Work collaboratively with staff to create and manage cross-organizational, integrated marketing strategies based on organizational priorities
- Coordinate communications projects with partner organizations on educational initiatives as well as events
- Provide writing and editing support for all outbound communication, including press releases, website content, social media and all relevant collateral material
- Develop materials for fundraising activities included annual campaigns, special events and specific funding opportunities in cooperation with Director of Development
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional media
- Serve as internal liaison to national organization to leverage and localize communications materials for optimal benefit to local organizaion
- Review and edit existing promotional materials for marketing effectiveness, cross-selling implications and adherence to brand guidelines
- Launch targeted, impactful social media campaigns when appropriate
- Work with Director of Special Events in support of all annual events
Event Management: (20%)
- Liaise with Event Committee to establish fundraising goals for event
- Work closely with company coordinators to help them to plan and execute 20-25 events
- Manage the on-line fundraising site throughout the event series
- Drive staff, members of the Board of Directors, and program volunteers to recruit and secure new companies to participate
- Solicit in-kind donations from area businesses to be used as incentive prizes

- Five of more years of experience in marketing communications
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field is required

The organization serves nine counties of Massachusetts (Barnstable, Dukes, Essex, Middlesex, Plymouth, Norfolk, Nantucket, Suffolk and Worcester), as well as the State of New Hampshire. During the 2011 -2012 school year, the organziation anticipates delivering 1,650 programs in 203 schools and after-school sites, reaching over 35,000 students in grades K through 12 through the efforts of 1,300 trained volunteers.
