SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The position is responsible for the layout, visual appearance and usability of a website. This role may overlap with that of a Multimedia programmer and web architect. Using a combination of graphic design skills and technical knowledge of how web pages are created, the work involves using multiple software products to design, create, and maintain web sites.

MAJOR DUTIES:

The following is a list of major responsibilities for this position:

Working closely with a customer or client at the design stage and finding the answers to questions about why the site is needed, who the target audience will be, who the leading competitors are, etc;

Writing web pages in a combination of codes, such as HTML, CSS, Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver;

Working with CSS in Wordpress and other content management systems;

Deciding on how images and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web;

Ensuring that material on the web site is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities;

Testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions;

Fixing errors;

Managing tasks from the help desk and from other outsourced designers;

Slicing existing web site designs from Photoshop PSD files;

Installing and integrating existing software products such as:

o Article Management Software

o Content Management Software

o Photo Gallery

Integrating Google analytics and all associated tasks with respect to analytics -- troubleshooting, goal conversions, custom reporting, account creation.

Managing projects and using outside programmers to complete tasks

Familiar with basic search engine optimization techniques such as meta tags, title tags, description tags, XML sitemaps, and other SEO friendly techniques

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The following is a list of requirements for this position:

Graduation from high school or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in an office, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experienced in web site crawling and searching

Quick learner in new software products

Able to communicate effectively and work with many people

Able to complete tasks in a timely manner

Must be at the office between specified times and complete tasks by specific deadlines

Work professionally with clients to fix issues and complete design work to their specifications

Demonstrated ability to identify web site problems and to develop feasible solutions.

Considerable interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Proficient in graphic design using Photoshop and/or Illustrator

We use PCs in the office. Candidate MUST be proficient using a PC

The following are minimum software requirements

Familiar with Wordpress

Dreamweaver MX or later

Photoshop CS3 or later

Flash MX (a plus)

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Excel

FTP Software

Microsoft Powerpoint (a plus)

OFFICE HOURS

This position is for 40 hours per week. We are not offering benefits at this time, but the company is growing and this is a priority.
