Architect Or Interior Designer Needed For Contract Drafting Work (Galleria Area)
Dec. 29, 2011
Houston, TX
Confidential
PART-TIME POSITION:
(THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR SOMEONE WITH A TECHNICAL SCHOOL DEGREE. APPLICANT MUST HAVE GRADUATED FROM AN ACCREDITED ARCHITECTURE OR INTERIOR DESIGN SCHOOL)
We are looking for someone to do part time contract cad drafting work. I have a small, fast-paced design firm that does retail, restaurants, salons, offices, and residential. A big part of my work is doing construction drawings for other architects and interior designers. You would be working directly with someone who has 23 years experience in the field of architecture, interior design and construction. You would also get a chance to meet and work with other architects and interior designers that are my clients. We are located in the Galleria area. The majority of your work would be doing cad drafting on construction drawings for commercial projects.
With the bad economy, I can only pay $10.00 per hour. I have had to significantly lower the fees that I charge my clients in order to keep projects coming in. That means that I can't pay high wages right now; however, I can give you very valuable work experience that you will need to find a full time job in the future. I have assisted my previous interns with getting full time jobs, by recommending them to other firms, helping them with their resumes/portfolios, teaching them what to say and do on an interview, etc.
You must have at least one year of professional full time experience producing construction drawings in Autocad. You should be proficient with autocad and must have a good work ethic. You will be required to provide reverences and your previous employment will be checked.
Your hours will be approximately 20 to 30 hours a week depending on my work load and your schedule. You can set your own hours and they can be very flexible. Saturday hours are available, but not mandatory. (No working hours after 6:00).
This is not a position where you will spend all your time filing, running errands, maintaining a finish library, etc. You will be working on real projects doing construction drawings, finishes boards, field measuring, visiting job sites and meeting with other architects and interior designers. I will teach you how AutoCAD drawings are done in a professional office, AutoCAD standards, and drawing standards. I'm hoping that the economy will turn around and this could become a full time job for someone eventually. If not, I will be happy to assist you with your full time job search. In the past I have had a lot of students working for me and always helped them get jobs after they graduated. If you are a good worker, I can assist you in finding a full time job in the future, since I know many architects and interior designers in town.
Please send your resume with your response.
