SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER/ PROJECT MANAGER

Heather Hilliard Design is a high-end residential interior design firm. We are looking for a full-time Senior Designer with 5+ years of experience working at high-end residential design firms. We do not have a specific formula "look" that we recreate for each client. Rather, we understand the client's tastes and desires, and provide them with the best of their preferred style.

You should be a "take-charge" person who takes responsibility for all aspects of your design work. You should be a VERY collaborative designer who gets along well with co-workers, vendors, and clients.

Please submit Cover Letter and Resume (with required salary history). Your portfolio should display a sophisticated design aesthetic. Please provide portfolio examples.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Designer / Project Manager will work directly with the Principal Designer, and as part of a team, on all levels of projects from schematic design through to installation and punch lists. You will be responsible for the planning, project management and realization of high-end residential projects under direction of our principal, but with minimal oversight required. You should have experience working with a Principal with strong design views to which s/he will want you to adhere.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working directly with Principal on all aspects of design.

Utilization of Auto CAD for elevation and plan drawings, furniture lay-outs, custom furniture,

carpet, rugs, and lighting design intent drawings.

Development of FF&E package from initial design concept through product specification.

Interior finish, plumbing, appliance, lighting, and hardware sourcing, selections, and schedules.

Close coordination with vendors for development of custom furniture, carpet, rug, lighting, and

fabric designs. This includes development of design intent drawings as well as vendor shop

drawing review and revision.

Prepare detailed budgets and presentations.

Source and specify materials, furniture, art and accessories.

Oversee purchasing from client proposals to final invoicing.

Manage all phases of interior projects from Programming to Installation and Punch Lists.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Designer / Project Manager.

High level of proficiency with AutoCAD.

Ability to conceptualize complete projects and to make sure that items don't fall through the cracks.

You must be capable of writing correspondence with perfect English grammar and spelling.

You must have a car for daily transportation, and a valid driver's license.

Degree in Interior Design or Architecture -- or extensive work experience equivalent.

Hard-working, do-what-it-takes attitude. Our firm is still young, and we are looking for

someone comfortable working in a hands-on environment where we are still establishing

new systems and procedures as we grow.

Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with architects, subcontractors, vendors and clients.

Extensive knowledge of interior design from traditional to modern.

Interest in the history of architectural design and historical furniture periods required.

Our clients are spoiled by good service. You should be very service oriented. You will get increasing responsibility based on your skills and on your fit with the firm.

We are a small firm, and we're looking for the exact person whose skills, personality, and attitude fit our needs exactly. We welcome the chance to learn more about you.
