What is theCreativeloft all about !

We launched this site a few months ago to help people in Photography, Fashion, and Interior Design find jobs. It's been quite an exciting time, and we've seen lots of positive feedback from our customers. It feels good!

However, I realize that there are still quite a few people that come here don't really understand the mission of the site. We tried to explain it clearly, but I thought I'd give it a shot on the blog, so that I could write in a more informal and direct way.

What theCreativeloft is about:

It's about filtering through the crap that's out there so you can focus on getting a job and not searching google. It's about having quality postings that lead to credible positions.

It's about having a place just for your industry where you can find the best advice, and make the right contacts.

It's about getting you a job, whether you're trying to enter the industry, or you're already an experienced professional!

So go ahead and try it out! As my corny career coach would say "It's time to accelerate your life!" =)

The 7 Fashion blogs that Fashion Professionals Could Really Use

We all know about Fashionista.com, the Sartorialist or goFugYourself. Those blogs always come up, along with others in the "top 10 fashion blogs" that are popping-up everywhere on the internet. But I'm sure that there is a better way of staying in touch with what is happening in the Fashion industry than by reading about the latest use of lingerie as outerwear (though another Kim already made pyjama as outerwear trendy).

You need to find the signal among the noise. This is where it becomes complicated, with countless fashion blogs (I don't even want to give an estimate, but believe me, there's a lot of them) the trick is to spot the ones that are relevant and provide insightful content you could really use.

Here is the list of the lesser-known Fashion blogs, by professionals and for professionals that you could really use:

1. Fashion Incubator

This site is aimed at Fashion professionals and entrepreneurs to help them manage all the business aspect of the fashion industry. You'll find industrial tutorials, resources, referral and peer consulting. The blog is run by Kathleen Fasanella a long-time professional of the industry.

2. Fashion Wire Daily

I've included this site in the list, even if it is not technically speaking a blog. You really can't miss their hot news about the Fashion industry. This down-to-business site is really active, posting on average 10 stories a day. Make sure to check it out regularly.

3. The Business of Fashion

The title of this blog could not be more explicit. The Business of Fashion has gained a pretty strong following as an essential resource for fashion creatives, business professionals and entrepreneurs. The posted stories usually explores issues at the intersection of fashion and business, reported from the major style capitals. This one is my personal favorite!

4. In Style Exchange

More on the designer site, this blog regularly post about the latest trends, and provide advices on how to start you own clothing line.

5. Fashion Business, Inc - FBI

Despite their poor taste regarding acronyms and background colors (is grey the new trendy color?) this blog is geared towards entrepreneurs and professionals of the fashion industry. They encourage interaction between peers (you can ask your question and you'll probably get some decent answers) and "real life" meetups.

6. Fashion Industry Network

The Fashion Industry network is a business network for the fashion industry to share knowledge regarding fashion, style and design. They also list a series of blogs. The idea of this site is for fashion designers to meet fashion designers, production managers to meet production managers, stylists to meet stylists, pattern makers to meet pattern makers etc.

7. 55 Secret Street

What is a Fashion shopping blog doing in my list of Fashion business blogs, you asked yourself? I know it's as irrelevant as Kim Jong Il new PJ's but still... this blog will help you spend your money wisely. You’ll find everything here from beauty products to fashion to all the gadgets that will keep you in style.

Do you think of any other resources that's missing in my list?

Thanks for reading!
