OVERVIEW

The VP of Production is responsible for overseeing Vice's Production and Post Production operations and managing all Production and Post Production staff. He/she will manage a multi-million dollar annual budget to successfully deliver hundreds of hours of video content through various distribution channels.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Managing a significant production budget; managing budgets of hundreds of individual productions.

Managing and motivating a staff of 45 that includes Producers, Associate Producers, Editors, and Assistant Editors.

Working with the GM and Head of Sales to develop a content delivery strategy that balances proprietary and branded productions.

Working with VPs of content verticals to ensure successful delivery of branded content.

Implementing best practices to improve the efficiency and quality of Vice's Production operations.

Developing a strategy for meeting last minute high-priority requests without affecting ongoing productions.

Developing production/editing teams and assigning teams to projects.

Creating an annual shoot/production/editing schedule.

Creating a content delivery schedule; communicating this schedule with Sales.

Implementing and adhering to delivery deadlines for proprietary productions.

Developing an annual production budget.

Representing Vice's production capabilities during meetings with clients.

Experience and Qualifications:

B.A. in Journalism, English, or Film.

Minimum 5-10 years experience working in video production in a management capacity.

Significant experience overseeing video productions, branded content, tv productions.

Experience overseeing both online and traditional video content.

Detailed knowledge of trends in documentary-style video content; ability to use this knowledge to influence business decisions.

Experience managing budgets and managing large teams of production staff.

Experience applying best practices in a production environment to lower costs and improve quality.

Ability to coach, mentor, motivate, and develop subordinates.

Training and experience in working with standard process management techniques and/or project management tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Disciplined and detail-oriented and creative problem-solving skills and a relentless work ethic.

HTML experience is a plus.
