The Associated Press seeks a Photo Librarian for its New York City office.

The Photo Librarian performs photo research in the digital image archive and photo negative archives to fulfill the requests of AP clients, Members and staff. Additional tasks include the indexing/cataloging of images in the digital archive and the maintenance, filing and organization of photo negatives. The Photo Librarian will also assist in the selection and packaging of images as directed by management. There will be other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must have an understanding and appreciation of visual journalism, including the ability to choose photo negatives. A strong general knowledge of historical events, as well as personalities in the news, is required. Knowledge of computer technologies, including use of the Internet for online research, MS Windows, Outlook, Internet Explorer and/or Firefox required. Photoshop skills are assets but not required. The applicant must have an attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines. BA or BS is preferred.
