General Description:
There is a tradition where working photographers pursue personal projects alongside their commercial endeavors -- often leading to breakthroughs in other areas of their work.
In this course, MFA students will explore individually selected topics of photography. . . it could be portraits for editorial clients such as Interview Magazine, it could be a documentary on the fashion world, or architecture (among other things.) Students will work on these projects on a one-on-one basis with the instructor, exploring what is truly meaningful to them. This course will provide students with a lot of shooting time, and enable them to pursue extensive projects outside of the Thesis.
The instructor will critique, lecture, and supervise the development of these projects.
Applicants should have teaching experience, and well as extensive recent professional experience as a photographer. Applicants should be up to date theoretically as well as experienced with production work.
Essential job Functions:
Prepare syllabus in accordance with accreditation requirements. Deliver course in an inspirational and disciplined method to creative student body. Conduct critiques of student work in a productive and effective manner. Communicate effectively with support and post production staff. May serve on departmental committees and/or as an academic advisor. Perform other related duties as assigned, including student consultations.
Applicants with a terminal Master's degree and/or substantial industry experience are preferred.
